Campus visits are essential to the process of choosing a college, and now you can do so virtually too! While prospective students can get facts on tuition, financial aid, and the programs and services offered from the College’s website, none of that information provides the first-hand experience a tour can provide.

Meeting with an Admission Representative, faculty, and staff and seeing the learning environment for yourself makes this process personal. Your campus visit should be about the “fit,” and ASPIRA City College will ensure you’re fully informed and feel comfortable before choosing to apply. Here’s a closer look at what our prospective students can expect when they visit our campus in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Making the Trip to Campus

You’ll find ASPIRA City College centrally located at 4322 N 5th St in the heart of Hunting Park, a lively and diverse neighborhood in urban North Philadelphia. The College is accessible by the SEPTA Broad St Subway Line (Orange Line) and the Market Frankford Elevated Line (Blue Line). Bus Route 47 stops outside our front entrance, and Route 53 stops two short blocks away.

The College is proud to be active in Hunting Park and the greater North Philadelphia community that’s bustling with people, homes, elementary schools, shops, restaurants, recreational spaces, and more. ASPIRA City College offers area residents with a unique opportunity to transform their futures through workforce driven programs for Bright Outlook Careers quickly and affordably.

Meeting with Your Admission Representative

When you arrive, you’ll notice that our main entrance is buzzer activated to control access and keep students and staff safe while they go about their day. Press this buzzer, and the Front Desk Attendant will let you into our facility. You’ll sign the visitor book and get a visitor name badge.

You will then meet with your Admission Representative. Whether you’ve just started thinking about it or you’ve already decided it’s the right move, your Admission Representative will speak with you about your particular situation and career interests, as well as get into the specifics you need to sort things out. We will also gain an understanding of what’s most important to you, explain opportunities available to you, and answer all of your questions clearly and thoroughly.

Taking the Campus Tour

Your Admission Representative will then take you on the campus tour, covering both floors of our facility. On the first floor, you’ll see admissions, financial aid, and the faculty offices, along with student and career services – essential resources for our student body. The second floor also houses the office of the Director of Education and all lecture and applied practical classrooms for our web design, medical secretary, and computer support specialist programs, as well as our Learning Resource Center (LRS).

Known on campus as “the library,” the LRS surely makes a strong impression. It’s a go-to for computers with internet access and is the perfect destination to find a quiet place to read or study. It also contains a wealth of resources, like print and electronic books, journals, texts, and databases, to enrich the educational experience of our students.

What’s more, all LRS resources are vetted and selected by faculty, with additional annual input from our Program Advisory Committees. These committees are comprised of students, graduates, employers, and professionals from each program-related career field. To be included in the LRS, the resource must:

  • Expand on information students gain from textbooks and classroom instruction;
  • Be demonstrated by faculty on how each resource will integrate with their program lesson plans.

But the benefits of the LRS don’t end there. It provides students with a significant advantage by granting 24/7 password access to whatever they might need to prepare for class. Plus, course syllabi identify resources that fit with weekly assignments so that students can visit the library for the recommended material.

Deciding to Apply

A campus visit is not only a critical element of exploring your career and college interest, but it is also a required step in the admissions process should you choose to apply to ASPIRA City College. It’s important to note, however, that visiting our campus does not have to mean you are ready to register. If you are impressed by your campus visit and wish to apply, you can do so during your visit, or you can touch base with your Admission Representative later on. They’ll have on-record that you already visited campus and will direct you on other application requirements.
