While some students begin and end their college studies with ASPIRA City College, others may have attended a community college, trade, technical or career school before enrolling. If you have credits from another institution related to your program of study at ASPIRA City College, our Admissions Department will review those credits for transfer credit eligibility. Here’s how.

About Our Credit Transfer Policy

ASPIRA City College is committed to fairness in all its practices and procedures. That’s why the Credit Transfer Policy is in place. It provides clear direction for students submitting requests for transfer credit and sets guidelines by which the college makes acceptance decisions. ASPIRA City College reserves the right to determine what credits, if any, are accepted for transfer up to a maximum of 12 credits.

For consideration, a student first must be enrolled in and meet all admission requirements for an ASPIRA City College Associate in Specialized Technology (AST) degree program, including Web Design and Computer Support Specialist. They then must submit the required documentation for credits earned according to the following guidelines:

  • The credits must originate from an institute of higher education accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Course content must be substantially like the coursework for a course in the program to which you apply.
  • You must have earned a “B” or better in the course considered for credit transfer.
  • You must provide a course catalog and official transcript from the originating institution.

Requesting Transfer Credits

The procedure for requesting transfer credits is straightforward. If you apply on-campus, your admission representative provides the necessary form. If you apply online at www.aspiracitycollege.edu/applynow, the directions and the Request for Transfer of Credit form are in your MY IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS folder. When you complete the Request for Transfer Credit online, your admission representative receives notification automatically.

The Final Decision

Once we receive your completed request and required supplemental documentation, we notify you of the decision in three days. It’s that fast. If you receive transfer credits, your financial aid plan is adjusted to reflect the tuition reduction by the number of credits accepted multiplied by the cost per credit for the comparable ASPIRA City College course.

Embrace Your Future with ASPIRA City College
